This class introduces the foundational texts that have shaped the field of design since the late 19th century, and theoretical texts by artists who address design in their works. Presentations focus on three-dimensional objects created for the mass market or interior design projects. Students must also design an object that is intended for mass production or interior decor.

Concho Chair, Michelle Barreras
For this chair I decided to take the Southwestern style and combine it with a more modern shape of chair. I drew inspiration from conchos, which are often used in jewelry and accessories. The materials I wanted to be used in this chair are stainless steel and turquoise. I would want the top and back of this chair to be made using the same methods that are used to make conchos.
