This class introduces the foundational texts that have shaped the field of design since the late 19th century, and theoretical texts by artists who address design in their works. Presentations focus on three-dimensional objects created for the mass market or interior design projects. Students must also design an object that is intended for mass production or interior decor.

My design is minimal it should call to mind a more masculine aesthetic. It is constructed of powder coated steel and glass. The top would have a glass frog embedded to hold 12 long stem roses. There would also be a trough at the bottom to hold water and the ends of the stems. The vase will have nothing but air and black metal in between the frog and trough. The effect of the red flowers and green stems would be striking against the black metal. This is more a tool for holding flowers than a vase. the overall height is 24" with an 8" circumference. The vase would be sold at higher end retail stores with a price of $750.00. My inspiration for the vase comes from the garage and the clean lines of a 1960's muscle car combined with a black smith shop. The target audience are aesthete males hanging on to their testosterone.
