This class introduces the foundational texts that have shaped the field of design since the late 19th century, and theoretical texts by artists who address design in their works. Presentations focus on three-dimensional objects created for the mass market or interior design projects. Students must also design an object that is intended for mass production or interior decor.

Davis, Ryan
Shinzou (Heart Vase)
This vase was inspired by shapes of the body, in particular the real shape of the heart. I was thinking this would be originally contracted by a single client who is into biology (real friend) and later used as a starting point for a whole line of "ceramic organs". These very modern pieces can be used practically, to grow plants and the like from. I see this series of ceramic vase being affordable and massed produced through a molding process.
